Music has always been apart of my life and I'm so happy to be able to share this "love" with Wausa's students and the community. I took my first piano lesson in kindergarten and it was certainly the first step in a ongoing love for learning about music. I learned to play clarinet in 4th grade. (I recently found my "licorice stick" and amazingly I can still make it play!) In highschool I had the opportunity to travel to Washington D. C. with my choir and sing with over 20,000 other youth in front of the Washington Monument. I was also involved in musicals in highschool. Oklahoma and 42nd Street hold special memories for me. In college I was in Bye, Bye, Birdie. I sang with the chapel choir (Concordia, St. Paul, MN) and also took piano and harpsichord lessons. Besides having music play a big part of my life at school, it is also evident in my "other life". I give piano lessons to a hand full of kids and play piano for worship and Sunday School at my church. You can often hear music in my home. Between my husband and I and our five kids...it seems that someone is always singing or playing something! My advice to all young musicians is to listen to your parents when they tell you to practice. They really do know what is good for you!
